Obituary of Mary Alice Gron nee Wales

It’s with deep sadness, we announce the passing of our Mother, Mary Gron, February 3, 2019.

Mum was predeceased by her husband Paul (2017).

Mary leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her brother Bob. Children; Scott, Jeff (Mandy), Mark (Jill), Mike (Kellie). Grandchildren; Scott, Carson, Kiersten, Kaia, Briar. Great Grandchildren; Gina and Blake and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary was born November 26th, 1934 in Kilwinning, Scotland to Hugh and Susan Wales.

At age 12, she immigrated to Canada with her Brother and Mother aboard a converted troop ship at the conclusion of WW II. She spent her teenage years in Winnipeg and St. Catherines, married in 1958 and moved West, where she lived in Red Deer, Penticton and Kelowna. She returned to Calgary, where she met and married Paul on New Years Eve, 1969. In 1978 Paul and Mary moved to Strathmore to a small farm south of town. She retired in 1996 after a 30 year career as a Paralegal working for law firms in Kelowna, Calgary and the last 15 years with Randall Jarvis Law in Strathmore.

Mary loved spending time with family and friends. Whether it was hiking in Banff with her ladies group, Square dancing with Paul in the summer or winter vacations with friends in Arizona and Kananaskis Country, she always tried to stay active. But, most of all, she liked making time for her family. We will all miss her, so very much.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Sagewood and Strathmore Hospital and to Dr. Lobay and Dr. Sader for the care our of Mother. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wheatland and Area Hospice Society ( PO Box 2154, Strathmore, Ab, T1P 1K2). A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 11th, 2019 at Lord of Lutheran Church at 2:00 pm.
